Artist Statement:
The
components of my jewelry are made by hand using a Propane-
oxygen torch, rods of soda lime glass and dichroic glass. I
seek out color schemes and surface qualities that are both
mysterious and unusual in order to define the wearer. By
layering hot glass in different colors and opacities I
experiment with complex surface treatments and iridescent
textures. Much of my work in glass is informed by the images
of my experience traveling in Asia, Africa, and Central
America.

Eastman Museum of Photography, received an undergraduate
degree from University of Florida, and a Masters from

Kate came to lampwork glass bead making after taking jewelry
design courses at Chautauqua Institution and Penland School

influenced by the fresh, resourceful approach to function
and design. Currently, Kate’s work can be found in books,
galleries, private collections, and fine craft shows
