Artist Statement:
Heirloom Jewelry, Hand Made, Hand
Polished, with each curve meticulously considered, designed
and then redesigned to fit the feminine form. The technical
term is Anticlastic Raising. We call it frozen ribbons,
sinuous curls in gold, three dimensional, lightweight
sculpture for the body. Sculptural to us means that our
earrings must look great from the back as well as the front.
Our art jewelry is literally hand raised from a flat sheet
of gold into the strong, lightweight, elegant pieces that
defines our unique contribution to metalsmithing. Stones,
pearls, colored accents are sprinkled throughout our designs
as punctuation marks and added drama to our already fluid
forms.
Anticlastic raising is a process by which metal is deformed
by the use of polished hammers and plastic mallets of
various sizes and shapes. All of my anticlastic forming is
done using steel hammers on plastic stakes or plastic
mallets on steel stakes.
Jerry Scavezze is a metalsmith with over 35 years experience
and he has been a design force in the anticlastic world for
18 years. We began in 1989 with a small line of earrings. We
have since expanded that line and we now carry gold
bracelets, handcrafted wedding bands, and pendants as well
as our famous earrings. |
