Artist Statement:
The creation and collection of jewelry, for me, is
about intimacy. Something personal is expressed in the
wearing of handmade jewelry.
I see my work as a metaphor for human characteristics, the
layers of the personality and the mystery of the spirit.
The texture and colors blended to create each surface are
like the subtle traits that we discover as we get to know
each other. Connections: mechanical, metaphorical, and
emotional, play a crucial role in my work and in my life as
a maker.
Fusing the intuitive nature of drawing and the technical
skills of metalsmithing, I combine copper, silver, brass and
colored pencil into wearable, portable works of art. Layers
of colored pencil applied to a textured copper surface
suspended over cool sterling bring each piece to life. |
